Serbia is small enough that most of its best places are a comfortable morning's drive from the capital — and awkward enough by public transport that a private day trip from Belgrade is usually the difference between seeing one thing and seeing four.

I'm Uroš. These are not fixed-departure coach tours. It's my van, you and your group only, a route we agree in advance and can change on the day — because the weather turned, because lunch ran long, or because you fell in love with a village nobody mentions in guidebooks.

The most popular day trips

Each of these works comfortably as a single day out of Belgrade, with door-to-door pickup in the morning and return in the evening.

VOJVODINA Full day

Serbia's second city — an Austro-Hungarian old town, the fortress above the Danube where EXIT is held, and a long lunch on the river.

Petrovaradin Fortress · Dunavska street · Danube quay · Sremski Karlovci

Fruška Gora & the wine road

Sixteen surviving monasteries scattered through a forested national park, and the Sremski Karlovci cellars that have been making Bermet since the Habsburgs.

Krušedol · Novo Hopovo · Sremski Karlovci wineries · Vrdnik

The Danube squeezes between cliffs at the Iron Gates, past a restored medieval fortress and the 9,000-year-old settlement at Lepenski Vir.

Zlatibor & the Šargan Eight

Šargan Eight railway · Drvengrad · Mokra Gora · Zlatibor centre
ROYAL SERBIA Half or full day

How a private day trip works

I collect you from your hotel or apartment in Belgrade, usually between 8 and 9 in the morning, and bring you back to the same door in the evening. There is no meeting point, no waiting for other passengers and no group to keep up with.

The day is priced as a whole — one fixed figure that covers the vehicle, fuel, tolls, my time and all the driving, however many stops we make. Entrance tickets, tastings and meals are paid separately on the day, so you only spend what you actually want to.

I'm not a licensed tour guide, and I don't pretend to be one. What I offer is something most visitors find more useful: a local who drives, explains what you're looking at, translates when needed, knows which restaurant along the road is genuinely good, and can be quiet when you'd rather just look out of the window. For sites where a licensed guide adds real value, I can arrange one to meet us.

Trips built around what you actually like

The routes above are the popular ones, not a menu you have to choose from. Wine drinkers get more cellars and fewer churches. Families with young children get shorter driving legs and a stop where kids can run around. Photographers get early starts for the light.

Longer combinations work too: two or three days looping through southern Serbia, or a one-way trip that ends in Sarajevo, Mostar, Skopje or Budapest instead of returning to Belgrade.

If you're staying only briefly and want to see the city itself rather than the countryside, a half-day around Belgrade — Zemun, Ada Ciganlija, the Sava waterfront and the old quarters — is often the better use of your time.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a day trip from Belgrade cost?

Each trip is quoted individually as one figure for the whole day, with the waiting time included in the arrangement rather than metered. Send the route and your group size and you will have the number in writing before you commit to anything.

Are entrance fees and meals included?

No — the confirmed price covers the vehicle, fuel, tolls and driving. Tickets, tastings and lunch you pay directly, so you're free to choose how much you spend.

Are you a licensed tour guide?

I'm a driver and a local host, not a licensed guide. I'll tell you plenty along the way and translate wherever needed, and for sites where an official guide is worth it I can arrange one.

Can we change the plan during the day?

Yes, that's the point of a private trip. Skip a stop, stay longer somewhere, or add a village you spotted from the road — as long as we get you home safely.

How many people can come?

Up to 7 passengers travel comfortably in the van. Larger groups can be handled with a second vehicle and a driver I work with regularly.

Do you run trips in winter?

Yes. Fruška Gora, Novi Sad and the monasteries are quieter and often more atmospheric off season. Mountain routes depend on road conditions, which I'll check before we set off.

Can a day trip start from the airport?

It can. Some guests land, tour for the day and continue to their final destination in the evening — see the airport transfer page for how pickups work.

Which languages do you speak?

English and Serbian fluently. Trip planning can also be handled in Russian, German, Turkish, French or Italian in writing.
